2024 Membership Survey

Between May 4 and May 31, 2024, CAPT invited members to share their experiences and perspectives through our annual membership survey. We received 161 responses — over 30% of our total membership — and we’re grateful for the thoughtful feedback.
This survey is an important tool for helping CAPT better understand your needs and shape our strategic priorities. Your input directly influences the direction of our certification process, training opportunities, professional development supports, and community-building efforts.

• Demographics: Our membership spans a wide age range and includes experienced professionals in psychotherapy, social work, and psychology. The majority reside in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia.
• Certification Focus: 45% of respondents are certified (CPT or CPT-S), while over 42% are working toward certification.
• Top Member Priorities: Continuing education, training, certification pathways, and community engagement remain key areas of interest.
• Strategic Alignment: Member priorities align with CAPT’s focus on strengthening communities, raising awareness of play therapy, and improving accessibility and standards.
• Training Feedback: Members want more diverse, accessible, and advanced training options, including content on technology-assisted play therapy, supervision, and family involvement.
• Overall Satisfaction: The membership rated their satisfaction at 4.16/5.
