Dr. Justine Elliot utilizes a range of evidence-based approaches including Play Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Somatic (body)-based interventions, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT and Trauma Focused-CBT), Intergenerational Trauma Treatment Model (ITTM), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and The Grief Recovery Method®. She has additional training and education on assisting parent-child attachment relationships, recovery from childhood trauma/abuse, managing substance use/addiction, and supporting young children and their caregivers. Justine is a Certified Play Therapist (CPT), Registered Circle of Security® Parent Facilitator (COS-P), and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®. She offers billing as a Non-Insured Health Benefit (NIHB) provider and Medavie provider which covers Medavie Blue Cross, RCMP, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), and Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP).
Outside Justine’s clinical work, she supervises students through various university programs and serves as a Faculty of Education Adjunct Academic Colleague with the University of Alberta. She provides workshops, presentations, interviews, and educational talks to educational institutes, media outlets, and non-for-profit organizations. Additionally, Justine volunteers as a board director and education committee member for the Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT).
